Webinars
Join the Tahoe-Central Sierra Initiative (TCSI) for a three-part webinar series in November to learn about science-based tools, products, and research that can be used to guide restoration and forest management practices in the Tahoe-Central Sierra region and across California.
In this webinar series, you'll hear from partners about efforts to define resilience in California's forests, integrate climate modeling into forest management, and research the health impacts of prescribed fire and wildfire.
Defining Resilience in California’s Forests
As climate-amplified wildfire and drought threaten California forests, shared goals and definitions of resilience across land ownerships are imperative. In this webinar, ecologists Dr. Patricia Manley and Dr. Kristen Wilson will discuss the Framework for Resilience, which utilizes ten pillars of socio-ecological resilience and describes their individual elements and metrics. Presenters will explain how to use the Framework and provide case studies demonstrating its impact.
View WebinarPlanning for Change, Integrating Climate Modeling into Forest Management
Climate change is affecting our forests, and they will continue to change. How do we plan for the long-term health of forests when they are dynamic? Hear from ecologists Dr. Nick Povak, Dr. Patricia Manley, and Dr. Kristen Wilson, creators of the Tahoe-Central Sierra Initiative Blueprint for Resilience, on new methods and case studies for including climate change scenarios into forest management planning.
View WebinarCase Study on Smoke and Health Impacts from Wildfire and Prescribed Fire
Both prescribed fire and wildfires produce smoke that can impact communities – but are they to the same degree? In this webinar, hear from Dr. Claire Schollaert about her new research on the impacts of smoke on vulnerable populations. Claire will discuss an analysis of risks associated with prescribed fire and wildfires and provide guidance for land managers on how to minimize impacts to communities.
